Chocolate-Glazed Doughnuts Recipe
Ingredients:
For the Doughnuts:
1 1/4 cups milk, warmed
2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
2 eggs
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
4 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for rolling
Oil, for frying
For the Chocolate Glaze:
1/2 cup heavy cream
4 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
2 tablespoons corn syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
Prepare the Dough:
Pour warm milk into a bowl and sprinkle yeast over it. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
In a separate bowl, whisk together eggs, sugar, salt, and melted butter.
Add the egg mixture to the yeast and milk, then gradually mix in the flour until a soft dough forms.
Knead on a floured surface until smooth and elastic, about 5-7 minutes.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
Shape and Fry the Doughnuts:
Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/2 inch thickness.
Cut out doughnuts with a doughnut cutter or large cookie cutter with a smaller cutter for the holes.
Let the cut doughnuts rise for an additional 30 minutes.
Heat oil in a deep-fryer or large pan to 375°F (190°C).
Fry the doughnuts in batches, turning once, until golden brown on both sides.
Drain on paper towels and let cool slightly before glazing.
Make the Chocolate Glaze:
Heat the cream in a small saucepan until it just begins to simmer.
Remove from heat and add the chopped chocolate, stirring until melted and smooth.
Stir in corn syrup and vanilla extract until glossy and smooth.
Glaze the Doughnuts:
Dip the top of each warm doughnut into the chocolate glaze.
Set on a rack to let the glaze set.
Enjoy your homemade chocolate-glazed doughnuts as a decadent treat, perfect with a cup of coffee or as a special dessert. They’re sure to satisfy any sweet tooth!
